I've donated another $975 to match the recent donations up to my initial target of $5000. Thanks everyone, but since that's not actually enough to rid the world of preventable blindness I'll be increasing the target. I've still not been able to connect this to Strava but I'm at 305km and back to (slow) 100km rides so I'll probably make the 500km target also.I'll match your donation!
Is been a slow start for me. Lots of fatigue, not much motivation, not great weather and work to do revising a paper plus other distractions. For some reason the connection with Strava isn't working, so you can't see how pathetic my km total is. But things are about to change, definitely! The weather forecast has improved so hopefully I'll get a decent ride in soon. And I'll personally match any donations in the next week, at least until my $5000 target is achieved!A 'Big Run' is a bit daunting!
But if you read the fine print, riding is also OK apparently. I won't be riding to raise money for Peter Mac this year but thought I would give this a go. Let's face it, $25 to restore sight is bloody good value. You can spend a thousand times that on cancer research and it gets you hardly anywhere. A million times that and you will probably make a bit of progress. Giving to The Fred Hollows Foundation is one of the most effective ways of making a positive difference to the lives of people.
