Why i take on this challenge
I signed up to take on this challenge with my team 'Steps-Sisters' yesterday. Personally I resonate with this worthy cause so much. Last year, I had an eye journey with 2 retinal detachments and 2 surgeries where gas and medical silicone oil were used respectively to put the retina in place while it healed. 😌 😎Getting over retinal detachments are long and slow processes, and an incredibly emotional journey. The recovery process is both physically and emotionally draining. 🥺 Every day can feel like a battle, as we struggle to regain our vision and adjust to the changes in our lives. The fear of blindness is a constant companion throughout the recovery process.😩We must confront our-fears head-on and learn to trust our medical team and the healing process🙏 Despite the challenges, many people are able to recover from retinal detachment surgery and regain vision, due to advance modern medical technology. I'm so inspired by Fred Hallows' vision to restore sight.We’re stepping up to restore sight!
We're taking on Fred’s Big Run this August to STEP UP TO RESTORE SIGHT!
Our goal is to raise funds for The Fred Hollows Foundation to continue the legacy of an Australian legend, Fred Hollows.
Because right now, 9 out of 10 people who are blind don't need to be...
And an operation that costs as little as $25 can help restore sight to someone who is needlessly blind, and change their life forever!
