Having a crack running and fundraising to restore eyesight! P.S. Fred was a kiwi too! =)

Gonna have a crack at running and fundraising!!

Feel free to support.

The Fred Hollows foundation do a great job.

Kids get their sight restored every day. Elderly get to see their grandkids for the first time.Ā  So many peoples lives are saved.Ā  Ray martin shared that over one million lives have been saved in third world country's with what Fred has done.Ā  Life expectancy can be only 3 years going cataract blind in those country's. Ā  Absolutely life saving!

Fred was a kiwi too so we're not all bad XD

Supporting WILL make a difference!

MY IMPACT

I've restored sight to up to 65 people so far. As little as $25 can restore sight to one person

My Updates

We did it!!!

Wednesday 30th Aug
Finished the last run with a 100m sprint! 12.5km run.
Super encouraged that my fitness grew that much in one month. First proper running I've done since I was 15 years old. =)

Big shoutout to the people who have supported and for my mates who alternated coming out and running with me for support.
Running and spinning a yarn is so much easier than running solo!

Great experience catching up with the Kenyan doctor guy who showed us about 5 case studies of people getting their sight for the first time.

Family of 5 in Ethiopia, The dad would work every single day out in the field for $1 single Australian dollar. Get home each day and His wife was cataract blind. And his 3 boys were all born blind with congenital cataracts.
FHF did the surgery for all 4 in the one day.
The next day they all got to take the bandages off and see eachother for the first time in their life.
Mum seeing the boys for the first time.
3 boys seeing their mum for the first time.
I cried so much!
So beautiful.
That all only cost $100.

The support is amazing and actually does awesome stuff.
Thanks guys!

Brutal run

Wednesday 16th Aug
That 5.7km run was a lot harder than the 7km run after getting sick!

But another 5.7k done.

Really want to be able to run a 10km run before the month is out.Ā  Maybe try a 7km run next time then hit 10km after that.

Back at it after being sick.

Tuesday 15th Aug
Was sick for 4 days but back at it tonight for a little run. Felt like I lost a lot of my fitness progress. After hitting the 7km mark last week I was really keen to hit 10km this run. But anyway lets build back up!!! =)

Ray martins great documentary. Shows how life saving it is.

New sponsors =)

Monday 7th Aug
Had some more people sponsor! So somebody since hearing radio interview got in contact and is going to donate $0.50c to the km so that's exciting! Big thank-you to everyone who's donated so far it's gonna make a big difference in peoples lives and also is really encouraging to me!

This is a great incentive to support, today I'm supporting with a one off because a friend of mine ran a long way, more than once, to prep for this Fundraising run and then ran a long way again! I found it very inspiring and I'm excited to be a part of his vision. (Pun intended.) I had settled with myself to donate one amount, but because it's double today, I've decided to bump it up to the next level. You guys are great, keep up the good work in actually helping to change people lives as you change people's eyes.

Hint slow and steady wins the race to pick up the pace as the month progresses. Hope you can go beyond your goal and continue a walk/run program which is a good way to see the sights. It also may improve your wellbeing.
