Walk around the lake and run home

First day walking!

On our first day walking, we went down to the Ross River in Townsville. We talked to my parents on the phone while we did 3kms. We were looking for a croc but didn't find one :P. Jake and Jena.

We have been getting ready.
The Kms don't officially count until August, but we have been walking to get ready. I have been walking to work. Jena and I have also been walking around the lake here at Hughenden. Each lap of the lake is 2.4 Km around. Wednesday last week we did 3 laps of the lake. One in the morning and two in the afternoon. We will walking the lake together for the main bulk of our goal.

In preparation for walking 50kms in August, I have started walking to work. I am fortunate enough to live a kilometer from the school where I am employed. I live in a small remote town four hours west of Townsville. I am a HPE teacher and blessed to be able to enjoy many hours of excersice a week in my role. Walking to work will net me 2 kms a day. If I reach my 50 km target early in the month I will endeavour for 100km. Cheers to the legends who have already donated. Stay Walking. Jake.

We’re stepping up to restore sight!

We're taking on Fred’s Big Run this August to STEP UP TO RESTORE SIGHT!  Our goal is to raise funds for The Fred Hollows Foundation to continue the legacy of an Australian legend, Fred Hollows.  Because right now, 9 out of 10 people who are blind don't need to be... And an operation that costs as little as $25 can help restore sight to someone who is needlessly blind, and change their life forever!
