Day 23 Great North Walk Whitebridge

This morning I parked at Adamstown, walked Fernleigh Track to Kahibah, then strolled along the section of the Great North Walk that comes out at Guna St (Charlestown). what a lovely little stretch of bush! The GNW follows Flaggy Creek with lots of little glades and so many birds! 10km return (to the car) and an easy walk.

Day 19 - 11km in our neighbourhood!

We set out in our challenge t-shirts to learn a few new ways to walk to local landmarks… the high school, shopping centre, a break in the park with ice creams from our local convenience store, the primary school, church, sports field and home again. It has been so precious spending this extra time together! We are planning future walks to continue with after the challenge… so blessed to be able to raise money for this cause while reaping so many benefits ourselves!

day 17 - Great North Walk Pokolbin

I found the end of the Great North Walk! on day 17 I walked from Pokolbin (Hunter Valley Gardens) to Pokolbin Park and return. I was surprised to find this is the final section of the GNW! Even though it was along the roadside, it was such a nice walk with views of farms, vineyards, cellar doors, and bush. I saw cows! And I took this photo with the cow sculpture at the cafe beforehand 😁… at home both boys have already surpassed their goal of 150km, but that is not slowing them down!

Day 16 - Winter is beautiful in Pokolbin!

While the boys continued walking around our local area, I got away to the beautiful village of Pokolbin. Bush and gardens, some familiar and some new…

Day 13

The rain held off long enough for us to walk to church and back again…

Day 12 - Yuelarbah Track

great afternoon of sensory experiences - surf, sand, waterfalls, bush. We will definitely be back to walk here again! a very pretty slice of the Great North Walk!

Day 10 at Toronto

A frosty start to a brisk walk - Toronto to Blackalls Park and back!

Day 9

a QUICK walk to Charlestown and then to church today to get my kms done… both boys are past halfway already! ran into this guy on the way home 😁

Day 8 Brilliant afternoon at the Foreshore

I took advantage of the sunshine and walked the beautiful foreshore this afternoon. I took the chance to look at familiar sites with fresh eyes, and discovered new wonders in this beautiful place we call home. plus I caught a few Pokémon along the way 😁.

Day 7 - Making progress!

At the end of this first challenge week we find ourselves overwhelmed with the generosity of our community! All 3 of us have smashed our fundraising goals, and our team is #6 on the fundraising leaderboard! After a much needed rest day yesterday, we are back to walking again today. I can’t wait to update the kms - both boys are already past a third of the way to their challenge totals.

Day 5 Epic Fernleigh Adventure

21km! This afternoon we decided to pit our resilience (and speed!) against the beautiful Fernleigh Track. Starting at the Adamstown end, we loved the changing environments as we hiked down to Redhead. There Rory left us (after 12km!) and Bodie and I made it to Belmont just before dark. The return stretch in twilight then full dark to Redhead was magical and peaceful. what an amazing walking path!

Day 3

A quick walk to coffee got me over the line for 10% of my trek! Such a lovely winter morning.

Day 2 and we teamed up!

Today Rory and I did part of our walking together - lovely lake views entertained us while we got our steps in.

Day 1 Sarah’s walk

Yuelarbah track. Just the birds and I! I decided to turn around at this rock 😁which gave me 5.3km this morning. Such a beautiful place…

A little practice walk

This beautiful morning I set out for a practice walk to see just how much of a challenge I am in for! 30min at Toronto saw me cover 2.5km… which is half my daily goal in August. It was lovely to visit some favourite spots: the train station was clean, the lake still, and the overgrown railway lines vibrant with birds and plants. how blessed I am to be able to see these things!

We’re stepping up to restore sight!

We're taking on Fred’s Big Run this August to STEP UP TO RESTORE SIGHT!

Our goal is to raise funds for The Fred Hollows Foundation to continue the legacy of an Australian legend, Fred Hollows.

Because right now, 9 out of 10 people who are blind don't need to be...

And an operation that costs as little as $25 can help restore sight to someone who is needlessly blind, and change their life forever!

Please make a donation and support our challenge to give the gift of sight.

Fred Hollows' dream was to live in a world where no one was needlessly blind, please sponsor our challenge and let's honour his memory together.

Thank you for your support.

MY TEAM'S IMPACT

Your team have restored sight to up to 250 people so far. As little as $25 can restore sight to one person.
